Located in the Riverlands region of South Australia is a brand new residential aged care home that has a wonderful homely environment and community feel. The new facility accommodates 50 residents and specialises in dementia care and on-site specialist services.

Steady, reliable hot water plays an important role in ensuring a high standard in Aged Care facilities, catering for en-suites, commercial kitchens and laundries, and healthcare applications.

Rheem was tasked with creating a high-efficiency, full-electric hot water solution for the new home with a high level of redundancy.

Redundancy is a key feature of most commercial hot water system design and selections to ensure reliability, particularly in regional centres for healthcare facilities including aged care and hospitals.

The Solution

In collaboration with Lucid Consulting Australia, Rheem designed a solution that included an Air-to-Water commercial heat pump with inline heavy-duty electric storage water heaters and Rheem’s innovative 3-way motorised valve. The solution was created with 100% redundancy built in.

The valve is designed to reduce annual running costs, by diverting secondary building circulation through the heat pump storage tanks when stored temperatures are suitable.

The system was installed by PA Plumbers.
