One The Esplanade is a 29-storey building in the highly sought-after area of Elizabeth Quay, Perth. Home to Chevron Australia’s new head office, more than 1,500 employees are now enjoying the benefits of a truly modern workplace.
The Multiplex constructed building is an employee focused environment, offering onsite childcare facilities, gym, executive concierge services, a dedicated tenant app, and secure basement parking.
The 52,000 sqm premium workspace also includes world-class end of trip facilities designed to support people who cycle or walk to work, and those who exercise during of around working hours.
The Brief
With end of trip facilities becoming more popular, particularly as organisations seek to provide a workplace that supports wellbeing, Rheem Commercial was asked to provide a hot water solution for the building’s 67 showers.
The Solution For One The esplanade in perth
To support the building’s target of a 6-star Green Star rating from GBCA, a minimum 5-star NABERS energy rating and an IWBI WELL Gold Certification, Rheem Commercial provided a custom solution for Sanwell Plumbing & Civil to install. The team put forward the new compact high-efficiency RAYPAK Modulating Vertical Burner (MVB), which is a Lo NOx appliance.
The compact and modular nature of the MVB solution worked well with Multiplex’s top-down construction. This model has up to 88.4 per cent efficiency and has the smallest footprint on the market, allowing it to be delivered and expertly installed by the Sanwell team towards the end of the project.
The requirement to discharge into the building’s plenum presented a new challenge during installation. This was quickly resolved with the flexible fluing options of Raypak MVB provided by the Rheem R&D team. This plant can deliver up to 7,332 L of hot water over the peak period. Each MVB can recover at 3,256L per hour whilst taking up less than 1sqm footprint.
The solution was designed in partnership with Sanwell Plumbing & Civil with a I Class certified Rheem Service technician who coordinated the commissioning of the system.
To celebrate the successful first installation of MVB in Western Australia, the local Rheem Commercial Team partnered with the onsite property team and Sanwell to conduct a plant room tour for two groups of local hydraulic consultants followed by a sundowner at the Island Brewing Co in Elizabeth Quay.
