More than just an investment in the club, its new aquatic centre resets the benchmark for high-performance training and recovery.
Rheem Thermal’s expertise in innovative, high spec, energy-efficient systems would support the club’s need for consistent access to these elite facilities, whether in pre, during or post season.
After opening in July 2025, the aquatic precinct includes a fully integrated recovery hub, allowing athletes to seamlessly move between hot, warm, and chilled water therapies.
The Brief
Rheem Thermal was engaged by Crystal Pools in the early design phase and tasked with designing a bespoke and robust heating and chilling solution for three individual pools, each with specific temperature needs.
This included a 150m² main pool to be maintained at 28°C, a 18m² hot pool set at 34°C, and a second 18m² cold pool set at 10°C.
The client required a fully integrated and reliable design that would support best-in-class recovery conditions under one roof.
Delivering on this vision required a carefully considered system design and installation approach that upheld standards of performance, sustainability and long-term reliability.
The Solution
Rheem Thermal supplied product to Crystal Pools who carried out the installation of three Premium Series 66kW direct-to-pool heat pumps servicing the main and hot pools, supported by a Premium Series low-temperature 68kW direct-to-pool chiller dedicated to the cold pool.
Selected for their high-efficiency output, fast response to temperature changes and proven durability, these units are purpose built to meet the demands of an elite aquatic centre.
The heat pump and chiller system combination would provide the capability to maintain consistent temperature control across all pools year-round.
To ensure long-term performance, the system also features marine-grade aluminium casings, corrosion-resistant panels and full-immersion dipped evaporator coils, offering robust protection in high-use conditions.
Together, these features deliver a reliable, future-ready solution that support elite recovery outcomes for GWS Giants and its athletes.
