Located in the Northern Suburbs of Perth, Robertsbridge Reserve is a community facility in much need of refurbishment.
Used by local sporting clubs, upgrades would not only benefit them but improve the recreational experience for the broader community.
To cater for the additional local participation and to ensure the success of local sporting activities, a range of improved facilities, including social spaces, toilet amenities, kitchen storage and modern changerooms was required.
As part of the upgrades, Rheem was invited to provide a custom solution that would also need to overcome the area’s harsh water chemistry, making way for the first installation of the new YF series in Western Australia.
This project was made possible thanks to a $125,000 grant from Phase 4 of the Australian Government’s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program.
The Brief
Rheem Commercial was contacted by building services engineering, Alphazeta, to propose a solution to enhance the club’s new amenities.
Rheem were tasked with providing an efficient heat pump system, that could support the upgrades, including the installation of universal accessible toilet, change rooms and commercial grade kitchen, while maintaining a low GWP (Global Warming Potential).
Together with Alphazeta and builder CP Projects, the team worked closely together providing site specific schematics to ensure installation was completed to the highest standard.
The Solution
Given the objective was to provide a low GWP solution, the products chosen included a YF Series A2W heat pump.
These innovative heat pumps utilise R1234yf refrigerant, which has an ultra-low Global Warming Potential (GWP) of less than 1. The system’s higher COP ensures high efficiency and reduced energy consumption of up to 4.28 for the 30kW model.
The system has dipped evaporator coils to provide superior protection in corrosive environments. The option of a tube-in-tube copper heat exchanger was also chosen to overcome Perth’s harsh water conditions.
Finally, to ensure the consistent availability of hot water, the team installed storage tanks to hold the peak load.
